Men’s Soccer Season Ends with Loss in CACC Championship Game; Team Boasts 5 All-Conference Award Recipients

The men’s soccer season came to a disappointing end with an on-the-road, 2-1 loss to first-seeded Cardinal Stritch in the CACC championship game on April 17. The Jaguars led for most of the first half on a goal by Dylan Swearengen, but Cardinal Stritch answered back before the end of the half. The Jaguars couldn’t stop the Wolves, and lost in a final score of 2-1.

Although the season ended with a loss, the Jaguars received news that five players were awarded all-conference honors. Luis Ramirez and Andy Latorre received First Team All-Conference Honors, while Hamzat Sanni and brothers Dylan and Dawson Swearengen each received Second Team honors.

Further, Latorre was named the CACC Freshman of the Year. This is impressive for the program as a whole, considering that women’s soccer team member Avery Damjanovic also received the same honor.

With the season over for both men and women, the next GSU soccer action will be in the fall.
