Domke qualifies for national golf tournament as Jaguars end the season on high note

GSU’s golf teams competed in the CACC conference tournaments to write the final chapter for the Jaguars’ COVID-altered 2020-21 sports seasons.

The men’s conference tournament took place on April 26-27 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, IL. Casey Domke stole the show at the men’s tournament, defeating Roosevelt’s Cooper Carmody in a two-hole playoff to take top honors. His victory made Domke the first Jaguar to qualify for the national tournament.

Domke shot a 76 and 72 to qualify for the playoff, and then recorded two pars to take the title. He will compete next at TPC Deere Run for the NAIA National Tournament on May 18-21.

Other Jaguar golfers also scored well in the conference tourney. Patrick Guilfoyle shot a 151 (75, 76) to secure 5th place and First Team All-Conference Honors. Carter LeRoy tied for 26th place with a two-day score of 167 (83, 84). Kevin Kompier tied for 44th with a score of 182 (96, 86) and Akim Bizati placed 48th, shooting a two-day score of 190 (94, 96).

The two-day women’s CACC conference tournament took place at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood, IL on April 22-23. The women’s team was unable to record a team score at the tournament due to a lack of numbers, but the program was represented by individuals: sophomore Macie Jansen and junior Sedona Smith. Smith shot a 103 and a 91 to capture 34th place. Jansen tied for 39th place, shooting a 120 on both days.  Recruitment is a major goal for upcoming next season, and hopefully the program will be able to post a team score in the fall events.

Aside from Domke’s upcoming tournament, the men’s and women’s CACC golf tournaments wrapped up GSU’s spring competition. See you in the fall Jaguars!
