The Phoenix is proud to congratulate former reporter Sedona Smith for being named 2021 Lincoln Laureate.

Sedona is one of four seniors from the four-year degree-granting universities in Illinois who get chosen each fall by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.

The Lincoln Laureate award is an annual award given to seniors who have been seen going above and beyond academically and environmentally. Once the Governor presents them with the award they become Student Laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois.

Sedona has been noticed for her certifications as a bilingual worker, certificates in crisis management and mental health first aid for youth, and her active participation and positive contributions to the learning environment.

Make sure you congratulate Sedona when you see her on campus.
